COMPLIANCE & SAFETY
IBC/NFPA 1400
Updated fire training structures designed to support safer, more realistic training while meeting current building and operational standards.
UPDATED STANDARDS
Not All Training Towers Are Built Equally
Fire Facilities takes safety seriously. Our standard fire training tower models have been updated to meet NFPA 1400 requirements while supporting applicable building and training standards.
These improvements enhance fall protection, expand training possibilities and strengthen the functionality of each structure.
SAFETY & FUNCTIONALITY
Important updates built into our standard designs.
01 - Increased Guardrail height
Guardrails are now 42 inches high on both sides of stairways to help prevent falls.
02 — Added Handrails
Stairways include separate handrails positioned 36 to 38 inches high rather than relying on the top of the guardrail.
03 — Updated Stair Dimensions
Stairways meet IBC and NFPA 1400 requirements with a maximum 7-inch rise and minimum 11-inch tread.
04 — Expanded Training Scenarios
Select tower models now include U-shaped or L-shaped stairs commonly found in commercial and residential buildings.
05 — Stronger Guardrails
Guardrails along rooflines, balconies, stairways and other elevated areas provide increased load capacity.
06 — Stronger Rappelling Anchors
Rappelling anchors are rated to support loads of up to 10,000 pounds.
07 — Improved Functionality
Doors and shutters can be operated from both sides for more flexible training exercises.
08 — Increased Square Footage
Many standard building models now feature larger footprints for expanded training space.
BUILT AROUND SAFETY
Greater protection.
More realistic training.
These design updates improve safety without limiting the challenging conditions firefighters need to experience during training. Each improvement supports a more capable and functional training environment.
