Built for the burn room. Engineered to outlast the heat.
Westemp® insulation is a non-asbestos, incombustible material manufactured in panel form. Designed specifically for fire department burn room service, the 4′ × 4′ × 1″ thick sheets combine structural strength with high thermal insulating values.
It is not subject to thermal shock and offers exceptionally low moisture absorption. Beyond Fire Facilities’ steel training structures, Westemp can be used in steel, concrete, and masonry buildings — extending the useful life of existing training facilities.

Quick and easy to install
Under burn room conditions, panels react to heat in visible ways. Between 300–400°F a panel warps slightly toward the hot face, stretching the surface more than the core — usually seen as fine “spider web” cracks along a fastener line. This does not reduce the insulating value, and once formed the cracks will not grow in size or number.
To avoid severe cracking, follow the installation instructions carefully and never exceed a burning temperature of 1200°F.
Moisture Absorption
Absorbs extremely little water.
Under burn room conditions, panels react to heat in visible ways. Thermal Shock
Unfazed by sudden temperature change.
Hot panels can take a cold hose stream with no harm. It is not necessary to cool hot panels with water — simply allow them to cool naturally. Westemp will not be damaged by sudden changes in temperature.
Installation
Easy to install in new or existing burn rooms.

Attach panels to the walls and ceiling of the burn room to shield the structure from live-fire heat.

Cover every exposed surface, backing each panel joint with Westemp battens to block heat from passing through.

Attach two additional panels to the ceiling immediately outside the interior burn room door.
04
Cut and trim easily with an electric or hand saw — cutting is dusty, so wear a dust mask.
